Our Life

Most of you know Lilley, so this weeks' conversations will come as no surprise...

"Mom, I missed you when you were at Itly. How about not go there tomorrow?"

"I already told you I want to go to the park and slide. I not going to get out. I sit in car til we leave. I not listening to you, Mom."

"Oh, you not sing that song. You listen to me sing that song."

Tonight, after a week of dealing with grandparent hangover at our house, Lilley says: "I decided not to cry tonight. I just lay on my pillow and close my eyes and wait for you to check on Baby Tipp." (You can tell what I use to get out of the room). "Lilley, thank you so much. My heart hurts too when you are sad." "And, Mom, you say life will never be the same with Lilley here?" (she is quoting her favorite, On the Night You Were Born)."That's right, Lilley, life will never be the same, for there is no one like you in the world."

It's us!

Dear God,

Should she choose to be a Mother one day, be my eyes, Lord. That I may see her, lying on a blanket on the floor at 4:50 a.m., all-at-once exhausted, bored, and in love with the little creature whose poop is leaking up its back.

“My mother did this for me once,” she will realize as she cleans feces off her baby’s neck.

“My mother did this for me.” And the delayed gratitude will wash over her as it does each generation and she will make a mental note to call me. And she will forget.

But I’ll know, because I peeped it with Your God eyes.

Amen

Great News

I have done such a poor job of updating the blog! No news is good news, I guess. Tripp is doing so well! At three months and a week, almost to the day, the crying stopped. It was amazing! He has been the sweetest thing, and so happy since then. He is still on medication for his reflux, and it doesn't appear he is in pain anymore. Additionally, Lilley is getting used to having Tripp around (after 5 months) and a great big sis. We rarely hear, "Baby Tripp touching me. I not like that. Excuse me, Baby Tripp." Things have been so calm, that we were able to escape for the weekend and leave the kids with Mamaw and Daddy Jay. Below are pics from the beach, as well as shots of Lilley and Tripp ready for the Easter bunny!
